Was Michael Jackson a Muslim?
There are some clues that perhaps Michael Jackson had indeed embraced Islam:
- His older brother, Jermaine, has been a Muslim for the past 20 years and has spoken publicly about his faith. He reportedly talked to his brother about Islam and was hoping that he might convert. When announcing his brother's death, Jermaine commented, "May Allah be with you, Michael, always."
- In 2005-06, Jackson spent nearly a year living in the Muslim country of Bahrain.
- In November 2008, several news agencies reported that Michael Jackson had embraced Islam in a brief ceremony in Los Angeles. Both the Telegraph and NY Post tabloids ran stories about the conversion.
The Canadian Muslim singer Dawud Wharnsby Ali posted on his blog the following clarification: "Though our professional circles did cross-over slightly with various common professional acquaintances - I never had the honour or pleasure of meeting Michael Jackson personally, nor did we ever correspond on matters of our professions, personal lives or faiths."In the end, only God knows the intentions of people's hearts, and He Alone is the One to judge.Singer Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens) also posted a statement: "Contrary to persistent press rumours, I was not at any kind of conversion ceremony for Michael Jackson."
Jackson's family has taken his body to a private funeral home, are awaiting an independent autopsy, and arrangements for his burial are confidential at this time. Michael Jackson's recently-released will, dated in 2002, does not mention any burial wishes. If the family believes that Jackson was indeed a Muslim, then he would presumably be buried in an Islamic burial ceremony (janazah). Such plans are not known or announced at this time.

I believe Michael Jackson was indeed as muslim like Obama is, as much as he can be with his biases. I also think that M.J. was about 56 to 61 years of age when he passed. At the date of birth given, he was already at least 5, and utilized by Joe Jackson with the ‘Jackson 5′.

Ok, first for all, for all of those who have said that we shouldn’t pray for him..( ISHA ALI)..please!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forget Islam for a second, he WAS the number one entertainer. He WAS a legend. He WAS and STILL is the king of pop. Have some respect, it doesn’t matter if he was a jew, christian or muslim. AT THE END OF THE DAY, WE ARE ALL PEOPLE, BROUGHT ON EARTH, NONE OF US BORN A MUSLIM, JEW OR CHRISTIAN. IT IS USE WHO DECIDE. We have all been put on this earth as individuals. What he believed in was none of our business…if he was muslim, good. If he was a jew, good. If he was a Christian.. Good! His life, his choice.
Albatol Network – you do NOT have to show that you are muslim. you don’t show people you are practicing, you do it for YOURSELF and GOD. Not for others to view. You are doing it for God, Allah, Buddha,, whoever, not for others. It’s not a fashion contest.
Kamaluddeen Dahiru – you want to know whether he was a muslim or not so that you know whether to pray for him? LOL.. so, if he wasn’t a muslim, then you wouldn’t?? Please, that is very narrow minded… it doesn’t matter what religion you are… these religions exist because God created them..
SO what, only God, MJ and his family know whether he converted or not. Ok as his fans we want to know… BUT. seriously people. A legend died.
The memorial service shown on CNN was a service by his friends and fans. He is to have a private burial amongst family.. let him lie, whether he be a muslim, jew or christian. He was an extremely good person at heart. He was loving, caring, giving, and the rest. That is what matters. What’s the point of being a muslim, jew, christian and practicing but being a hypocrite and talking and doing miss deeds?
I am muslim.. and may GOD let Michael rest in peace. He is in a better place.
If you disagree, please feel free to message me. I am not looking for an argument. I just disagree with people who say that you have to be muslim, jew, christian in order to go to heaven.. thats bull.. its the person you are, how you are and what you do that counts.
God bless & Salaam.

Whatever you said is just so fantastic but i dont believe that any non-muslim will go to heaven considering even they did absolutely great things for mankind. All such people had vision, thoughts and everything a thoughtful human needs, If they couldn’t realize and seek the real GOD, they dont deserve to be in heaven at all….
If this universal system was being run under the very same concept which you discussed then where is the need for a religion? why Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) bear so much pain in persuading people to convert to the true religion ISLAM and to know the true GOD ALLAH!!!!
The prophet should have only asked and persuaded people to do right things instead, regardless of whoever they worship.
But Allah has bestowed everyone with a brain to think and nature to explore truth, so why shouldn’t people try themselves and find the true GOD????

As christians we believe that a place in paradise belongs to those who accept Jesus as their payment for ANY and EVERY sin they have ever commited here on earth… This doesn´t make us intolerant but just faithful adherents to what the Bible actually says:
Jesus said “ I told you that you will die in your sins, if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins. (John 8:24)
He also said “ I tell you the truth that everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever . So if the Son sets you free , you will be free indeed.“
(John 8:35)Jesus told us that because of these beliefs his followers will be persecuted just as he was because the world doesn´t want to hear that there are conditions to entering heaven..and those conditions are to be Sinless. !!… the problem is that we all have sinned and fall short of this standard which is why Jesus gave his sinless life for us all… Our choice is to accept or reject this truth…
As Jesus said also in John 11 “ I am the resurrection and the life . He who believes in me will live, even though he dies . “
Only God truly knows if Michael accepted this truth in his heart or not and it is not for us to judge where Michael is right now. Whatever his behaviour whether good or bad here on earth only God knows if his sins were paid in full when he finally stood in front of his heavenly father to give an account of his life….
For those that deny that Jesus is who he claimed to be please read the book of John in the Bible . And for those who claim the Bible has been corrupted , you are believing a lie. There is no historical foundations for such a claim. Read it for yourself and the father will reveal his truth to you.
The Bible has a clear warning for those that try to twist the truth of what he has said :
“ Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ . Such a man is the antichrist , he denies the Father and the Son. None who denies the Son has the Father but whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. “ 1 John 2:22
I pray you will be blessed with peace , truth and the Love of God,,,

Salam everyone.
Yes i’m a muslim and proud to be one. This debate is really interesting.
@Samirah – you are right that only ALLAH is the one who knows the FULL TRUTH about each one of us. But i’m sorry i can’t agree that muslims, jews, christians, buddism is all created by GOD. Do you know hadiths? Sayings in Islam and in Quran. Here’s an Hadith – ALLAH swt has put outside the Heaven Door – LA ILLAHA ILLALA MUHHAMADUR RASUL ALLAH – THERE IS NO GOD BUT ALLAH AND MOHAMMED (p.b.u.h.) IS HIS MESSENGER! How can one enter the Heaven if people are believing not in this but in theories such as Son of God, Man-Made Statues Worshippers and Moses as the final prophet? Sorry sister only people who recite this LA ILLAHA ILLALA MUHHAMADUR RASUL ALLAH and truely practices Islam will be part of the MUSLIM UMMAH and be granted heaven. Everybody else who do good in this world will their good in this world but not in the hereafter.
@Waqas – agree completely with you brother!
@Ishamel – brother it is said in Islam that we Muslims have to accept Jesus (Prophet Issa in Islam) to accept Islam fully. So brother whatever OUR PROPHET Jesus (Issa a.s.) has preached, we Muslims do follow. Difference is in Islam we believe that there is NO GOD BUT ALLAH and HE has ONE MESSAGE and MANY MESSENGERS and in Christianity Jesus is regarded as SON of GOD which is there only because Jesus didn’t have a father and Mary was born a virgin. But brother how about Adam and Eve – that was a miracle of God as well. Woman coming from the spine of a Man!
At the end of the day brothers and sisters, GOD has created the heavens and the earth and each one of us will be JUDGED by HIM and yes we Muslims always make dua for the WHOLE HUMANITY but especially the MUSLIM UMMAH!
May ALLAH swt bless us all, those who have passed and those who are to pass…

Thanks everyone for the messages and replying back to me. Totally appreciate it and respect your views. Maybe I didn’t make myself clear… all I was trying to do was answer or give my views on the topics that have previously been talked about, e.g. ‘is MJ a muslim, let me know so I can pray for him’ and ‘he didn’t practice, or show that he is Muslim’ etc..
Like I said before, people don’t judge us, God does, so why show others you practice? You practice between you and God, not anyone else, so if MJ did practice in his home, then that’s good.To be fair,I do not practice. You are free to judge, but please don’t. The sins won’t be on your side, they will be on mines. I just don’t understand how many (and I mean many) people can practice Islam, read the Qu’ran, fast, pray, give money to charity etc’ but all along are being hypocrite.. thats all. What is the point in that? It’s like your back on sqaure one again. Do a good deed and then erase it all again. Also, I don’t understand how Muslims can get so hyped up about it all and say that ‘if you don’t believe in Allah, you will go to hell’.. theorectially speaking, maybe that’s true or maybe your not. But there are other religions out there and they say the same thing aswell about other religions and beliefs. However, Christians don’t dwell so much on it. Muslims however do. They get all angry about it all. Who knows, sometimes I question if there is a hell or heaven or even a God. I know, some people reading this will be like ‘Wow.. that girl is not even a Muslim, she’s a non-believer, she will go to Hell’ .. Fair enough. But don’t worry I will not be taking you with me!
Christianity, Islam and Judaism – very similar religions. I have read all the holy books from each of those religions just to find out and give or take, some major differences but mostly similar ones. I’ve been to Israel and Palestine and very similar again. Faiths are everywhere. Very similar.
@ Waqas Lone – I partly agree with what you say… Actually what you said was very good. BUT if Allah was the true and only God, wouldn’t everyone be a Muslim by now? Ok, I know you’re going to say that ‘its a test and that is what distinguhes us from the believers and non believers’ BUT
Everyone was put on earth, to be tested against their actions. I don’t know, I wouldn’t disagree with you on what you have said but I wouldn’t agree. Other religions have been put out there as well and for you to say that only Allah is God and other non-believers is going to hell, well thats a bit biased isn’t it? Ok, maybe because I don’t practice, I can’t really say anything. I would RATHER be a good person, with a good heart, instead of practicing the religion and being a hypocrite. But if you are both (kind and practicing then well done, because there are not a lot of people out there who are)
See as Ishamel said: ‘As christians we believe that a place in paradise belongs to those who accept Jesus as their payment for ANY and EVERY sin they have ever commited here on earth’ . See? So in his eyes, because those don’t accept Jesus, will go to hell. It is the same in Islam right?@ Adeel: Thanks and I made a mistake… when I said : You are doing it for God, Allah, Buddha,, whoever, not for others’ I didn’t mean literally, I meant it as a way of saying things, whoever MJ chose to believe in then thats his business.
Of course I know the hadiths. And yes when you said ”How can one enter the Heaven if people are believing not in this but in theories such as Son of God, Man-Made Statues Worshippers and Moses as the final prophet?” —> well thats their believe isn’t it? Who are we to say that what they believe is wrong? For all you know, Allah might be wrong. Jesus might be wrong etc. At the end of the day… religions causes most wars and arguments. I’m pleased you and Waqas have very strong views about Islam, thats really good and I really mean that. But you shouldn’t be so quick to judge and say that because Christians, jews, buddists don’t believe in Allah they will go to hell. I have to say that I know lots of people were Muslim and have converted because they feel more connected to God.. that does not make them sinner..
Also this is a fresh argument.. I am interested to know how can Muslims gracefully help and welcome people to Islam.. when people convert, but if a Muslim coverts to another religion then why all the hate and killing? Where does it say in the Qu’ran to kill non -believers.???
AND ADEEL: I agree with :”At the end of the day brothers and sisters, GOD has created the heavens and the earth and each one of us will be JUDGED by HIM ‘ and may I add only by him.. so whoever we believe in, we do not do it for others to see but we do it for the powerful.

- July 9, 2009 at 1:17 am(22) stopped going to church - samirah made me laugh says:
I wanted to know the truth more than i wanted to argue my beliefs. . .
samirah that was too funny. “run along now . . . ” i had to laugh. now i want to address a point that you made about hypocrites. i grew up in the Christian church and there are more than enough hypocrites in churches as well. BUT God is in the mix SOMEWHERE. the question is where. for me, i stopped going to church when i went to college. then, as an adult i got to the point that i REALLY wanted to know, with all the religions that there are, where in the world is God in this. so one day i just asked Him. i prayed to God to show me the truth. there are so many religions and factions within each religion – i just wanted to know the truth more than i wanted to hear people debate who is right and who is wrong in the religion question. when i asked, God began to show me. He doesn’t try to fool us and He doesn’t make it hard. if you ask Him, He will show you. when He shows you, you will not be able to deny it OR resist it. This is how you know if someone’s love of God is real. if someone just wants to prove to you how wrong your belief is more than they have an aching, intense desire for you to know who and what they know, i doubt if it’s genuine. i have had the most undeniable, incredibly supernatural journey since i prayed that prayer 15 years ago. God responds to your hunger. the hungrier you are to know the truth, the more He will feed you. the more you receive from God, the more you want others to know and experience His love. He is AWESOME. there is head knowledge and there is heart knowledge. you can have all the head knowledge that you want such as the archaelogical discoveries that have proven events and places and even people in the Bible (research biblical archaelogy) or the contemporary historians of Jesus such as Joseph Flavius that document His life and death – nd Flavius was NOT a Jesus follower – you can stuff your brain with the head knowledge but once you have an experience with Jesus, your beliefs cannot be swayed no matter what. compare the testimonies of Christian converts to the testimonies of muslim converts from any religion. many many converts have supernatural experiences with Jesus. most muslim converts only speak from head knowledge. once a person has had an experience with Jesus, he never doubts that Jesus is real and Jesus is Lord. even muhammad himself doubted whether his experiences were from God or the devil. in conclusion, when you are ready for more than a casual observation of God, ASK Him to show you the truth. i asked Him because I wanted to know the truth more than i wanted to argue my beliefs to prove my “rightness”. i wanted heaven and i didn’t want to believe a life. so even though i grew up Christian, i had doubts until Jesus showed me the truth in a multitude of ways after i prayed and asked God to show me where He was . . . .in Islam, Judaism, Christianity or somewhere else. i just wanted to know where. didn’t have to be right. anybody else want to know the truth MORE than you want to be right? put your pride aside and ask God. just be prepared to receive what He shows you. He is so AWESOME – words cannot relay to you how AWESOME His love for us is and how detailed He can be in relating to us. you have NOTHING to lose by just asking “God, where are you? Where do i find You?” He’ll show you that He was never lost. His been there all along waiting on you to ask.

You guys are really making me change my mind about Islam…Allah is all knower and all forgiver, that means forgiveness and judgement will come from Allah and Allah alone. Not you guys… the best you can hope for is to be good enough people to pray for all mankind, give out your prayers in full force once someone passes. Allah will make final judgement, as humans and as Muslims… from what i understand all we can do is pray for others, and hope someone returns the favor!
The way you guys are talking is i think some of the reason why Islam has a bad rep. Contrary to what people of any religion think, it is impossible for a human to be 100% certain about any of their beliefs – the nature of all human knowledge depends on our senses and reasoning powers, both of which are prone to errors, even with the best will in the world. If God is searching for those who wanted to know the truth, he will not necessarily pick those who decided to simply accept what society told him to believe (whether he is born in an Islamic, Christian or Hindu society) – he might be more likely to pick a heretic, as at least that person was searching for the truth and was prepared to go against society in his bid to find it. In fact, that’s what all the prophets did.

this is the attitude alot of you seem to have… my point is one person does not need to be a muslim as Allah or God sees what in all of our hearts. So to be a person who doesnt pray for someone, or doesnt hope Allah be merciful on someone just becuase he or she is not a muslim makes no sense to me.
Most of you keep saying things like “may Allah be merciful on him if he was a muslim” or “we are waiting to find out if he was a muslim to pray for him” seems shallow and disrespectful. Your Quran does talk about a certain “peoples of the book” does it not?
Well why dont you heed that? Do you not understand that your religion actually asks you to pray and be kind and helpfull to all walks of life.. not just Muslims.
Some of you guys were obviouly born into this religion without fully comprehending what it means. Just like any other religion, some of you pick out the parts you want to believe in and disregard teh rest. But Allah will see this when you are judged, just remember that.
Non-Muslims are people too, we were all created by God adn we will all be judged at one point. You should embrace your faith, because its a good one. Just keep in mind to be respectful of others, no matter what they believe in, or say they believe in. My grandmother is a devout christian and has lived her life by the Old Testament. Non of you are going to ever convinve me that she isnt going to go to heaven just because she never converted to Islam… come on! I refuse to believe Allah is that cruel. and I will not beleive it until Allah himself shows me on the day I am judged.
That being said, Islam is a truely beautiful Religion, and I’m seriously thinking of converting, but it completely changes my mind when I hear Muslims being so bias, disrespectful and sometimes outright hateful towards other religions and human beings in general. To me, it contradicts what I feel Islam is all about, and I do not want to be a part of any of that. So thanks for showing me a side of Islam i never considered… probably because you’re thoughts are cultural or things your parents tought you, and not really from the Quran itself.
Some of you should be ashamed of your outlook on other human beings… but that may be a Jihad you need to take to learn and grow. I hope some of you will seize the opportunity.
I agree with Salim that the major religoins have too many things in common to be excluded, and bashed. Your own religoin tells you to respect and support these religiouns, so why dont you?- July 9, 2009 at 4:50 pm(37) Samirah says:
Hahaha, this is too funny!! But thanks for the people who took their time to contribute (that’s only for those with positive and open minded views – the rest… well…)
@Salim : thanks for the support.. don’t often get it because i think too openly but one day I’ll get there! And haha way to go, I totally agree with what you said.
@ stopped going to Church : Thank you! I will definately look into it because I am interested. It helped. I knew grew amongst Christians and Muslim (In Palestine AND America) and honestly, the Christians looked and sounded much more happier. Many thanks again.
@ Abdur Rahim : Thanks. Abdur Rahim, you know this is really hard as I am distracted a lot and when I read people’s views and thoughts I want to question them. Just so that I understand and it makes it clearer. I am not going against any religion, I just have some questions. I am happy that you have found faith and comfort in Islam. I Know people will say that I am not a muslim, i am haram by discussing these. I just have questions and I am trying to find myself.. and God, what is so wrong with that? But thanks for your answer and support.
@ Mohammad A : That’s BS. I have never heard of that. EVER. But I respect your views and opinions. But please feel free to show me that every Child was born as a Muslim it is their Parents that converted them. Please support this.
@ Hussainat: I agree.
He was a legend and a good person and it is God who judges, so why do others judge others when they speak their mind and want to find answers?
@ Michelle: Thanks for your answers. And I have to say I kind of angree with you. I find it so irritating when people like Bashir Bello and Isha Ali say that they will pray for only those who are Muslim. Thats the biggest crap ever. You are right. Whatever he was, I still prayed for him. When you said :
‘But if you want to show your faith then dont block out everyone that isnt muslim… because that is only going to dig you in a hole for your own judgement’ –I agree 100%. Most Muslims believe that they are right and others who are non Believers of Allah will go to hell. I also find that quite irritating. And they will argue with you like mad, but at the end of the day, you choose, how does that affect others about what religion you choose? If your wrong, your wrong, but they are very strong minded and won’t let anyone express their views and are very quick to judge. I have already been told that I am not Muslim (fair enough) all because I have questions that I want answered. However, because they are ‘true’ muslims, they don;t question. They just do. Well whatever comes naturally to them I guess.@ Diarmuid : Contrary to what people of any religion think, it is impossible for a human to be 100% certain about any of their beliefs – the nature of all human knowledge depends on our senses and reasoning powers, both of which are prone to errors, even with the best will in the world. In fact, that’s what all the prophets did – WELL SAID. I like the way to think.
WHAT IS SO WRONG ABOUT QUESTIONING YOUR BELIEFS?????????????????????
- July 9, 2009 at 4:54 pm(38) Samirah says:
@ Michelle: You said ‘probably because you’re thoughts are cultural or things your parents tought you, and not really from the Quran itself’. You are very right. This is what they have been taught when they were little and thus resulting to stupid views and really not opening up to other views and religions. I am sorry that you feel like you don’t want to be part of Islam (convertion), but do carry on researching, some Muslims are not like that. I am still looking and questions my ‘beliefs’ and have often felt secure with the Bible. But thats just my view.

In the article above it states:
There are some clues that perhaps Michael Jackson had indeed embraced Islam:
•In 2005-06, Jackson spent nearly a year living in the Muslim country of Bahrain.
LOL!! I have lived in christian countries all my life, that doesn’t make me a Christian. Lots of Christians and non Muslims live in Bahrain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELLOOO? hahahaha
- July 9, 2009 at 5:21 pm(40) michelle says:
Thanks Samirah, I appreciate the support…
I will not stop researching, and really, its been my experience that most muslims are not like that. Its just discouraging to see when they have such a beautiful faith.
Personally, my grandmothers faith in God is what brought me to check into other religions. and from my experience, Catholisism (my “religion”) does not support questioning of faith. i was kicked out of Sunday school every other week (permanately in some cases i had to go to another church) becuase I’ve never believed that “Christ” was the son of god.. i still dont to this day and i can seriously say i never will… unless God himself tells me so. The way i see it, yes he was a prophet, but God was no more his father than he is mine. And the other issue i have is that someone can kill and rob, and then walk into a church and become a preist, but as a Woman i cant. even if i live my life by the book. What makes those guys so special? lol that was rhetorical. But i ahve issues with my religion, but at the same time my Grandmother has the power of God behind her and she lives her life serving others and praying daily for others. No one will ever convince me she isnt going to heaven b/c she isnt muslim. People dotn seem to understand that youcan be a Catholic or Hindu and live like a muslim, but not be one.
I guess its just some people are so into their beliefs that nothing can taint their minds, which is a good thing in a way, but seriously detrimental in others. Especially when their thoughts are negative in relation to other human beings, and life as a whole. It’s quite a shame! But they should be looking inside to find forgiveness and stop being so disrespectful. it seems to me that some Muslims seem to thing they can convert others by telling them that only muslims go to heaven, and maybe that’s how they keep their own faith. But God will judge them when the time comes, i jsut thought it a good idea to point it out, so those people can work on themselves and begin their service to others.- July 9, 2009 at 5:32 pm(41) michelle says:
Samirah – “I am still looking and questions my ‘beliefs’ and have often felt secure with the Bible. But thats just my view” I just wanted to commend you for that, and myself i’ve often felt secure and loved in my religion, but there are things Catholisism cannot answer and refuses to do so. But i also think that my love of some parts of the bible is what brings me to Islam, it supports the same beliefs (whether muslims see it of not!) but also provides answers. Had i not been given the shaft when i was young i might still be a hardcore catholic. My throughout my teenage years i asked God for guidance and understanding, and help finding a religion that i can believe and flourish in…of course i also asked for a man that is sensitive and loves kids, my child specifically.. It took years but my prayer was answered with the insert of my (now) boyfriend Ahmad into my life. He is a muslim, and has his faults, but he is extremely understanding of my beliefs and supports my decisions. At times he can break out the “only muslims go to heaven thing” but i keep reminding him that’s what his father told him! and he realizes that muslims arent going to heaven for sure just cause they are muslim. you have to be much more than a muslim to get into heaven, and in the end you end up a superior being from within, muslim or no muslim.

Salam Alaikum,
Why is everyone fighting over his faith? why is everyone judging him? its not up to any of us to judge anyone….as for going to heaven or hell, that is up to Allah swt, not anyone here.
Not all muslims will go to heaven.
Praying for someone whether they are muslim or not doesnt take anything away from you. Your good intentions for everyone will get you closer to going to heaven.MJ never hurt any of you, instead he made you happy with his music otherwise you wouldnt be fighting over him now. So what harm could praying for him do to you?
I am sad by reading some of these posts. People waiting to find out his religion before they could say a prayer is just DUMB!
Islam is a very loving religion, please dont embarass the rest of us muslims with your silly comments.
Does the muslim world need MJ to be muslim?????? what difference does it make to any of you if he was or wasnt?!?!?!
you people need to spend your time praying and worshiping allah than wasting it here talking about someone else’s religion.Wsalaam

With host of other mysteries, MJ has left behind a hotly debated question about his faith.
The world is at a loss to understand that as to why MJ did not go to perform Hajj or Umra during his long stay of one year at Bahrain. That could have been a decisive moment and testimony. His hosts in Bahrain did this great blunder to bring MJ professing Islam to its ultimate finality because no non muslim can enter into the peripherry of Holy Mecca or Madina.

Zari – Great comment
Michelle – “I asked God for guidance and understanding” – that’s the core of it. There is no god but God – who is always Hearing, Aware, Responsive. The word ‘Muslim’ has been usurped as a label. If one reads the Quran with care, it is clear that the word ‘Muslim’ denotes anyone who surrenders to God (thus all the Prophets – Abraham, Moses, Jesus – are called Muslims). So, any member of Humanity who surrenders himself to doing right (which is after all surrendering to God) is a ‘Muslim’ and conversely any person who consciously strays from the right is an Ingrate or ‘Kafir’. So it is by one deeds you are at times a ‘Muslim’ or a ‘Kafir’. We can only hope and pray in the ultimate balance our deeds label us as Muslim! Don’t dwell on labels (Catholic, Muslim etc.). I admire people like your Grandmother (”Grandmother has the power of God behind her and she lives her life serving others and praying daily for others”) even if she does not have the label of ‘Muslim’ (perhaps in the eyes of Allah/God she is just that – a ‘Muslim’ by courtesy of her deeds). Our suspicions of others have become ingrained due to cultural baggage that comes with the labels of Muslim, Hindu, Catholic, Protestant, Jew. If we as Muslims paid more attention to our own Deeds and helping others with compassion (I am saying nothing new – its already there in the Quran!), perhaps by God’s grace we will be able to wipe out the misconceptions we have about each other. Always keep seeking guidance from Allah/God – there is no one more close or more ABLE.

That mJ died a muslim or not,and is of global concern shows the legendary status of the man while on earth. However samirah’s comment and those of others in her support or against her shows how shallow the knowledge of a lot of people about Islamic concepts of the essence of life, the paradise and humanity.
Islam never places emphasis only on the proclamation of the kalimah but on its essence which would have helped educated samirah that consciousness of the essence of the Kalimah will moralise the life of the adherents of the religion.Islam remains the most practical and total religion that addresses the unification of body and soul in the acts of men.Actions are to be judged by intentions. There are no places for hypocrites(Munafikun–see a whole cahpter that condemns munafikun). That people act against a law does not destroy the essence of the law.
As for entry into paradise, samirah and her supporters should understand that the knowledge of man is less than the weight of an atom when compared with that of God. If only percieved good acts are tcikets to paradise then there will be conflicts as there are no universally acceptable moral standards globally given the multiple of culttures world over.religion becomes the only universally acceptable standard ways to measure people.islam is however more united in determine what is right and what is evil. The knowledge of who enters paradise is with Allah from his mercies.
As for public display of faith, action will definately be judged by intention. Not all public acts are hypocritically as no one learns from what is good if it is hidden. And Allah says He has knowledge of what is hidden and what is revealed.
Let samirah continues are search but should search in appropriate quaters with an open mind after all Allah says He reveals himself to one who searches for the truth.he even challenged such people who are in doubt to produce an ayat and invoke the name of what they worship unto it. Allahu allam

Those people have a tendancy to not speak up sometimes when needed.. I hope I didnt offend anyone, my intention was to let you see yourselves in a different light, so you can then improve on your actions, or words behind them. In what i’ve learned of Islam isnt that Muslims hold their own and fend for themselves, but the opposite. I just wish everyone who calls themselves a Muslim would see that and look inside, or to Allah, for strength and guidance in dealing with the rest of the world.

Firstly I would say what an interesting argument. However, I agree with Samirah. Not everyone is born a muslim, maybe that is what muslims have been taught since they were little. I think is this quiet an arrogant thing to say. You might think you are right Mohammad and Aliyah but you cannot believe everyone will accept that especially non muslims like me. I think this is a question of what you have been taught or read. However, I certainly do not accept non muslims are born muslim. In the bible it says nothing of that sort, so please do not aspire on it.
Michelle and Samirah are both right. Some of you are EXTREMELY narrow minded and don’t accept other faiths and belief and think that everyone else is wrong.
All that Islam has shown me is conflict.

from begining of every revelation we know there is God and He created all that is in the heaven and the earth and created man in a good form and comanded man to worship HIM alone.we all know that man is a forgetfull creature and tends to do things that satisfies him rather than wat is right, so wit passage of time people started losing there way from the actuall guidance of submiting to God and thanking Him alone hence, prophets were sent to reminnd people to submit themselves to God alone and do things to please Him and that there is a reward or punishmant for everything they do and every soul is responsible for himself.and as we all know it is not easy to give up our desires and have rules guiding ur conducts and action hence, some rejected the message.each prophet came to a group doing something wrong and tried to guide them and each has a distinguishing quality, noah has patience, david was devouted and ibrahim was sincere and steadfast.
all the revelations were like chains of reactions adressing problem as they occur, we cant say man woke up one day and started practising every wrong habits we have now!it started gradually and each revelation addresed that problem and the one before it.
so when all these prophets came they came wit thessame message of worshiping God and guidance against evil.this chain continued to jonah, musa isa and finally muhammadSAW before it was complete.that is why the concept of islam is not just accepting muhammadSAW but all the prophets because they all form a complete picture when together.the teachings of islam is perfect because it pertains to all aspects of life by mixin the spiritual intellectual andphysical together.the quran tell stories of ancient people some that were destroyed and some that were succesfull to show us that there is punishment and reward it is not just theory.it contains guidelines on how it is our responsibility to take care o ur self,ur family ur neighbor ur comunnity urcountry and it also tells us how to do the most important thing which is worship God and trust and depend on him.and to make us know that all this things can be done the prophet pbuh was blessed by having all those noble characters and acting on them and having a good result.all the previous prophets did not bring a complet message to manking or a complet way of life example u cant learn about leadership and strategy from ibrahim because he was never a commander or how to treat ur wife and children from isa or jesus because he did not get married, but muhhamanSAW was sent wit Quran that answers all question and taught it by practicing it so wat ever problem u come accros wen u look in the quran or hadith u find a solution.so islam which means peace finalises all the message and does not accept rejection of the previous prophets and it give a complete guideline.all u have to do is study it directly from the source {quran and hadith}not from the people u c around.
our problem now is we all make religion conform to ways of our culture and that sends a negative message but we all know if u want to find out about something u go to the right source.i cant just close my eyes and say all americans are slim because all the adverts or movies i c have size zero models,if i want to find out the truth i am sopposed to go and do a census or something to have concrete evidence.
i believe that the reason why people are asking for evidence to know if mj was a muslim so that they can pray for him is because in the story of ibrahim from the Quran,he said to his father that he will pray to his lord to forgive him and guide him and he kept his promise even after the death of his father until it was revealed unto him not to because only Allah knows or decides what to do wit the person who reject so to do otherwise will be going against the command.
may God guide us to right path, not of those who have earned his displeasure nor of those who have gone astray.- July 14, 2009 at 7:47 pm(79) aysha says:
“servant of god:in the quran Allah said ‘to every nation a messenger was sent’ so for those who received the message but rejected it those are the once that have gone astray.for those who have no knowledge of the message Allah only knows what he will judge but remember he is must merciful and his mercy reaches all wit no distinction and he only holds u accountable for wat is in ur heart.so u cant say they will go to hell only God knows who will.

Almighty Allah Said. O you who believe Obey Allah and obey the messenger and those of you who are in authority and if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it Allah and his messenger (meaning refer to Quran and Hadiths) if you believe in Allah and the last day.Islam is religion that guides human bieng with proof and not in your own opinion.
E.T Williams whatever you said is ok by me because the original text of your religion has been polluted and changed and that is why you have different version of bibles. The name Bible is not in the bible but the name Quran appears more than 27 times in the Quran.- July 15, 2009 at 6:29 am(81) donie says:

just pray that Allah bless all the Muslim companions who are now no more

Samira – Can I just say it is funny to read that you ask people on this forum for proof that in Islam it says we are all born muslims but take a different path/religion thereafter and when Mohammaed/Aliyu provide proof you insult them! I don’t see either of these people insulting you so you should at least respect what they have to say even if you don’t believe in this.
It’s a well know fact that this is what ‘majority’ of Muslims believe which is why when when a person ‘converts’ to Islam we don’t call them a ‘convert’ but a ‘revert’ to indicate that they are reverting back to Islam. It’s no use mentioning hadith or verse’s from the Quran to back this up for you as you have already dispelled this evidence.
It may help you to understand that to be a ‘Muslim’ is to give 100% devotion to our creator (we call him Allah and he has 99 other names and other people call him God). Now as our creator gives the soul into the baby whilst it is in the womb, the soul/baby does not know anything other than other creator and therefore has 100% devotion to him. This is another reason why we say that all is born as a Muslim.
Again agree/disagree with me as our creator gave us the free will to do so but I just wanted to make this point. I hope I haven’t insulting anyone so accept my apologies if I have unintentionally.

would all muslims pray for all humans?
if dajjal is a man would u pray for him?
would u pray for hitler? he suscribed to his views- should we judge him?there needs to be a perpective set here.
this argument is totally off track. there are people who have died and are dying who really deserve your prayers. countless people working hard day in day out in the “third world” – without recognition or fame.

Samira you remind me of those youtube vidoes of fake ex-muslims who suddenly “found the answers to all their questions”. How dare you mock the religion of islam. You say you rather not practice than be a hypocrite, thats so funny because you say your a muslim but dont even believe in the basic principles of islam. You are fake, only here to stir fitna. Maybe you are just jahil (arrogant) I suggest you study about islam more before making false accusations about what is islam is about. As muslims we know that the doors to heaven is closed for any disbelievers, we know that we are all born muslims and then we choose from our “free whill”. How can you say the disbelivers who are constantly insulting allah by associating others with or besides allah subhanutalah, should go to heaven. Whats wrong with you girl. In a authentic hadith it was narriated that the difference between a beliver and a non-beliver is the one that does the salat. Of course they have to know that they are required to do the salat. Which world are you living in thinking its all about love and peace. Where do you see peace in this world? how can you be in peace when your loved ones are leaving you, how can you be in peace where there is unjustice amongst people going on in this world……… simple: this is all a test. If you are a believer you will know this. The reward for passing this test is unlimited bounty from allah, where you will abode in heaven and true “peace”
May Allah guide you and us all.

the essence of islam is about the ONENESS of God… everything else is irrelevant.. the hardest part of becoming a muslims is believing in that unanimity.. we who are born into islam have it thrust upon us, but if people like MJ and others in this forum, seek it, then im sure, God will be the judge of their faith.. for its much harder to make ur self believe in something contrary to everything u have been brought up with.. Whatever his funeral may have been like, his life may have been like… he spread a message of love, compassion, hope and innocence…. and to be honest.. God doesnt judge man till the end of his days, so how can we?? what if he had said the sha-hada on his death bed? even if he didnt his belief in the Oneness of God is a far greater achievement, as he came from a culture where he was INVINCIBLE, he didnt need to believe in a higher power, he was MICHEAL JACKSON.. YET he did attempt to seek it.. after all as muslims we are told to seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave… let GoD judge..! and just pray for yourselves…

May ALLAH be with you brother and take you with Shohdaa’ and forgive you for your all- July 29, 2009 at 11:37 am(91) michelle says:
WOW!!! I HAVE AN AKA!! yay! i’ve always wanted an alternate name… anywho…
Samirah, thanks again for your support.
But I agree name calling wont get any of us anywhere. We all really need to start being compassionate to others, and respecting other peoples beliefs..
Jesus said “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” and i’m a firm beleiver of this. Thanks Isa.
However it is frustrating that some people here are so closed minded. Of course your religion tells you that one will not get into heaven if your not muslim, and way to go on beleuiving that… however you need to understand or at least have respect for other religions as they also state the same.
Chirstianity tells us one will not go to heaven if not baptised christian.. so to each his own. We can only do what we feel is right for ourselves and our family. And yes, i believe sharing your faith with people is a wonderful thing, conversations are a wonderful thing, it’s just a shame to have someone else’s religion pushed or forced upon you then when you have questions about it, that same religion tells you to believe it or you wont go to heaven.
Christianity does tell you this, but this is yet another eason i cant believe in it, i was under the impression Islam does not, i was under the impression islam is understanding and patient and compassionate and respectful of other true religions (ie. people of the book… remember them?) but not all the congregations that stem from said religions, or made up religions (like scientology). I guess I was wrong about that.
I am not a muslim, nor do i pretend to be one, but i have been trying to study it for a couple years now in my search for the light.
Before i came onto this site i was just about convinced. but now that i see that Muslims really degrade other religions and tell people you wont go to heaven if your not muslim, and you wont be prayed for if your not muslim, well thats just wrong to me and i will not have any part of it.
Its a shame that questioning people come to sites like these looking for answers when all they seem to get is told they arent going to go to heaven unless they are muslim, well thats sounding like a form of christinatity to me and as such, i’m now going to turn my researching to a more productive, considerate, compassionate, respectful religion. I guess islam is not for me, i’m not hateful enough.Im glad i found your guys’ attitdes before i converted! thanks for showing me the trueness of a muslim… greatly appreciated… now i see the truth.
Ps… Michael Jackson did not convert, all these rumors are just that.. Rumors. In Michaels will he said he wanted teh kids to be raised of in a prodestant household with his mother. why woudl he want this if he was muslim? why not raise the kids with Jermaine in a muslim household? Oh thats right… tis cause he was prodestant… as was his funeral and his last wishes for his children… sorry to disappoint… i guess all you muslims that have been holding off on praying for him need wait no longer. just forget about him and move on to the next muslim you can actually pray for.

SAMIRAH is not this persons true name and she or he or 50/50 is not a Muslim. Samirah is just a made up name of a non-muslim person to fool the Muslims and all the good people who take time to read these comments.lOOk at the comment ‘39′. Living in Muslim country could be a very good reason for somebody to convert. Do some research and see how people are becoming Muslims.
Samirah (the insane/Fraud) says ‘ livindgin a country does not make you convert to that religion. Samirah says he/she lives in christian country and she has not become christian. THINK and you will find that she/he is not even a Muslim so what does it make her (convert) or even worse!!!
DON’t waste time read =ing her stupid comments. She does not have a religion and even if she was a Muslim, living in non-Muslim country made her loos her faith. IT MAKES A HUGE IMAPCT.

Assalam-hu-alaykum
Brothers and Sisters in Islam, i’ve been reading through this blog, and while doing so have come across many misunderstandings and misconceptions and some of you have gone about doing things in the wrong manner. You have mislead or better, not fully explained certain issues to many people who will read this.I may not be the best of muslims or even a good one at all but deep within my heart i know that Allah is out there, and no doubt most of the muslims of today including myself are only muslims by name we do not practice Islam the way it should be because we are weak in this time and age.
but thats not why ive posted here, my main concern is that you have turned a soul away from the light (the way in which some of you muslims reacted was unethical). Michelle i totally understand were you are comming from, i have relized your aim of this “activity” if you’d call it, like you i too have a very enquiring mind and have searched and questioned all my life about matters concerning the righteous path but ive always come up with the same conclusion. The problem is today you dont know who to believe, so search within for answers or unless if you got a good trustworthy source. Pretend that you do not know any thing about any of the religions, ask yourself questions and answer them using the different religions as your sources i garantee you that islam will give you the most sensible answers not only that, it will answer why and how the other religions have answered the same question. Islam is a way of life.
Islam is not like how you now perceive it to be, dont believe what others have said they havent explained to you in detail. So if youve got any questions please ask me, i will try my best to explain in detail and if i cannot i will lead you to trusted sources.
My email: m.sahebdawray@gmail.com
I’ll be waiting to hear from you. May allah guide you….Inshallah
btw. people its not for us to question weather or not mj was a muslim or not its between him and allah… dont questin it … u’ll be answerable on the day of judgement… You believe what you want let others believe what they want…
End of story …
